Water pooling on roof, new camper

Is this normal to have small amount of water pooling like this in a new camper? This after a wash for final pick up.

Camper is still there as they tried to pass off electrical issues as normal, they are working on it.

Trying to add pic frpm phone, not working
  • My Northstar had a flat roof and we had no problems. Our Arctic Fox has an arched roof, so no standing water.
  • Thats how mine looks, you should be ok. Mine has been fine since 2008
  • ...is that a pool of water surrounding your vent flange?

Good idea to store nose high, but when you are camping, you need to level the camper, and if that is a natural lake surrounding your vent (and air conditioner?) bezels / flanges, you'd better inspect and re-caulk those areas regularly :B

The entire roof on our pop-up camper (Outfitter) has a very nice dome to it, with the front and rear vents at the highest altitudes on that dome.
  • This is how it was sittinng, the camper nose seems to be a bit higher than the rear.

I plan on running the AC a lot, it seems that is where the AC water will accumulate as well.

  • My Lance manual says to store the camper with the front 4 inches higher than the back.
  • Looks like a Lance TC. Its normal. When storing it keep it a little nose high, about have a level bubble. I've seen dealer lots where they keep campers about 4-inches high on one side.
  • Our Snowbird TC's roof is flat. As mentioned we lean it a bit to keep the water off
  • When off the truck I store the camper a little nose high so I don't get puddling. This may not be true with all manufacturers but I don't think the roof is designed with any arch to prevent puddling. I know my Northstar isn't. It "shouldn't" cause any problems as long as it doesn't sit there long enough that misc debris (leaves, etc.) begin to decay releasing ammonia and other compounds into the water making it acidic. Over time, that could cause problems to the roof.
  • Thanks Jim!

Keep in mind this is in the desert area where it is really hot now and water evaporates quickly, is this normal? It is a bit hard to tell but it is definitely pooling.

My other toy haulers done seem to do this. I cant imagine in a heavy rain storm or if I leave it outside in a rainy area how it will look in a year or two.

  • I don't think so, but how much water?

Read the stickies on how to post pictures. Basically you have to upload to photocopier similar photoshoot all first.
