If nothing goes wrong, it won't hurt anything as other have said. The two dangers are from leaks or a blown hose, or just running low on water. It may flood something, and when the water runs low the pump will suck air and run continuously. They get real hot after running a few hours, and your batteries won't like it either. One of the fancier water pumps has enough intelligence to stop if it has been running a few minutes continuously. That wouldn't be than hard to retrofit with a timer relay.
