We spent the summer in Europe this year. On some highways (especially in Germany and France) It seemed every 4th or 5th vehicle was pulling a trailer and lots of motorhomes as well. They definitely like RVing in Europe. We didn't see one trailer being pulled by a truck. Actually can' remember seeing a truck except the odd one in Spain.
As well as cars, I noticed Vans pulling European Caravans. In England we were passed at 70mph by someone towing his Caravan with a Van
European Caravans are not recommended for Off Road use, although some here have taken the ones with heavier frames on extensive dirt roads
Yep. They seem lower to the ground and many had single axles, even the 24 footers. Even saw the odd smart car pulling little bubble type trailers and of course the little tent trailer.
We have a couple more years of work in the summer and then we are heading to Europe for a year or so of RVing. We'll buy something there. It'll be tricky with the schengen rules but I think we have it worked out. Kinda like a 90 day two step dance. :)
I wonder if anyone has tried to bring a European spec unit over just for the reasons (problems) that the original poster has.
