- kellemExplorerI'm still betting electric.
Gas only on a 2020 trailer that size.....nah. - Matt1221ExplorerAlso I checked the paperwork but it's just general & goes over both kinds of water heaters & such.
- Matt1221ExplorerNo I don't know yet, because I don't have physical possession of said trailer. Just the lady that did the walk thru- was going over all the switches & got to where the electric hot water heater switch should be (by the awning & water pump & tank meters), then got confused in a hurry & said it was gas only.I said What? she said but the outside is. When she opened the hot water cover I didn't see a spot where the element would be, so I can only assume it is gas at this point. But if it is like someone else mentioned I am going to put the kit in it.
- bpoundsNomadI can remember when a dual gas/elec water heater was a fancy upgrade. But now, it is a very stripped down model that would have gas only. Would only be a few buck cheaper, plus some extra labor and wiring to install.
Units that focus on the dispersed style camper might leave out the WH AC. No use for it without an E hookup.
As far as kits, yes they are available, but make sure you are up to the task of getting AC power into the water heater cabinet. It can sometimes be a lot more work that just dropping the kit in your online shopping cart.
As for us? The AC is pinned OFF and we never use it. Water heater stays on whenever we are in camp. Turn it off when we are away, for safety reasons. - HuntindogExplorerMine is on 24/7 just like in my house

Thank you.
We shut ours off at night.
What I find a bit strange is people won't even use their furnaces because of trying to save propane, but will leave the gas WH on 24 hours a day. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIHEY OP------------
Did you figure out whether or not you have a Gas/Electric of just Gas only Water Heater?
If Gas/Electric did you find the electric On/Off switch?
Does it work on Electric?
How about posting back with update! - DarkSkySeekerExplorer

If you can hear the sound of gas HW heater firing up at night, you need better insulation in your trailer.
No ... 2oldman doesn't need better insulation.
His neighbor needs to learn to have their propane water heater turned on A LOT LESS. i.e. ... Only turn it on maybe - once or twice during daylight hours - and then for maybe only 45 minutes each time.
This will both reduce propane consumption for the neighbor and help 2oldman get a better nights sleep.
(I'm convinced that many RV owners out there don't REALLY know how to use them for good politeness, good efficiency, and good long term reliability.)
It amazes me that there are that many people that camp who have issues with almost everything others do...
too many lights, not enough lights, AC too loud, radio on, outside tv, dogs, kids, Now a loud water heater...
jeez.... I guess maybe they should camp somewhere NOWHERE close to civilization ...
Or ............... "others" could spent a little (more?) time on these kind of forums so as to learn how to be better camping neighbors such that "many people" that wind up camping around them weren't negatively impacted. ;)
(Or alternatively .......... folks could spent more time carefully shopping for their RV and reject the rigs with too-loud built-in generators and/or propane appliances before they buy -> maybe then RV manufacturers would begin to get the message and put more consideration into better designed/installed RV systems in the first place.) - rbpruExplorer IIThe first thing I would do is check the water heater spec if I didn't trust the person sales person.
Mine is gas/electric, it runs about 20 minutes in the morning on either and we are set till we do dishes. With just two of us, it is maybe on e a day.
Since we pay for electric, that is what I prefer to use.
