weak Tundra frame...

When what I needed was a 1/2 ton truck, the Tundra was the best truck out there. When I needed to go to a 1 ton, I bought a Ram 3500. If Toyota had a diesel 1 ton, I probably would have bought that. The Tundra is more than capable, has an amazing frame, and the only thing that I would have liked different was the way it rode on the concrete freeway sections. I towed about 10K miles with that truck up to 9K lbs. A really great truck.

I got news for you... that tin can thin sheet metal is an industry standard. My father in law has a 2012 Chevy 2500, his sheet metal is just as thin as mine. My cousin's F250, just as thin. That is how they reduce weight and increase fuel mileage.

I love my weak framed Tundra. When and if my current one wears out, I will buy another weak framed Tundra........:B

Several years ago there was quite a bit of discussion and posted pictures on this forum about beds hitting the cab behind driver side. Was about the same time as the tail gate bending on new trucks. IIRC, there was a number of YouTube postings about Ford, GM and Toyota and how they responded when running on a rumble strip test.

All you big truck guys are funny. One days its one frame is weaker than the other, and too much engine too little frame, or too much frame too little engine.

Then its "trust the engineers"...when you feel its warranted.

And when its not the engineer...its marketing. Or the sue happy US. Whatever guys.

So, if you trust the engineers one day, why don't you trust them the next day, when they try to save weight and increase MPG by going unibody? A unibody engineered to tow cant tow as well as a body on frame designed to tow the same amount? Come on man...

Ok ok...I don't mean to feed the troll. My point is no matter what, you guys seem to turn on a dime when it comes to when you trust the engineer and when you don't. When you blame marketing and the court system...and when you don't.

If the OEM says its rated for X, then its rated for X. End of story.

6 year Tundra owner here. Never heard of that. I'm sure there's a youtube video showing it happening. I guess if you drive into a ditch it could happen. Don't worry about it much after 76,000 trouble free miles.
