We have a 13 Explorer LTD with factory tow pkg. the manuf already built in a safety margin. They don’t build them so they break at 1 lb over the limit.
With that said, I tow a 3 place snowmobile trailer with ours. 2200lbs loaded. With 4 of us and our stuff in the Explorer and the trailer it is working to pull it all. Can’t imagine how it would be with a 5k lb travel trailer attached to it. I did tow a 5k lb TT with a 95 Explorer 4dr and it did ok, better than my 13 with less weight and lower profile!
