Weight of truck bed?

Does anyone know what the weight of a Ford truck long bed is?

  • I'd also say 4-500 with the gate. The gate is the heaviest concentration of weight. I sold the LB on my 97 Dodge and I took the gate off and there was a man at each corner. I gave the three count and I thought we were going to throw the box into orbit! Craig

Tlarden you are a lot stronger then I to do it with 2 people.

It was a pretty low equipment trailer :R :R
  • I was going to say 400-500 lbs or so. Flat beds depending upon the material used are 80-120 lbs per foot in length. A LOT heavier than a pickup bed.

I could also imagine, some of the newer GM beds where the inner bed is metal, outer sidewall FRP, they could be a few lbs lighter yet, 50-75 lbs vs all metal.

  • I'm going to agree on roughly 400lbs, we removed a 94' bed and myself and one buddy were able to load it onto a trailer pretty easily. They are more awkward than heavy....

Edit: I have to mention this is with the tailgate removed....
  • The owners over at Ford Truck Enthusiast say around 300-400, easily handled with 4 people.

As compared to the truck without the bed in back?
Do you plan to remove the bed for a TC or something?

I would guess that it would be around 200 lbs. But, that is only a guess.
I bought a new bed for the truck and need to round up people to lift the old bed off.
