I have not noticed any traction issues with the 19.5 tires. There are a couple other characteristics worth noting. First the sidewalls are tough and rigid. With my other tires I was worried about sidewall damage due to rocks. I did have to replace a pair of tires for that reason. That is very unlikely with the 19.5s due to the strength of the sidewalls and also virtually no ballooning. The 19.5 tires do not handle ruts well. Some road surfaces are worn and the ruts can be annoying since the stiff tires tend to follow them. This is especially true for the first few thousand miles.
Over time I hope the durability of the 19.5 tires will offset some of the cost. In 70K miles with my old 17" tires, I had to replace 3 tires due to road damage. I also replaced tires due to use and wear. Since I was at or above load capacity, I kept new tires on the rear and moved them to the front by 30K miles or less. For one reason or another I had to replace 6 tires within 7 years and 70K miles.
