What a mess

Opened up the camper after 6 hours on the road. Well, a jar of Indian cooking sauce, a bottle of olive oil, half a container of oatmeal and lots of spaghetti had had enough and decided to commit suicide. Then several containers and jars thought it would be a good idea to join in and rolled around in the mess. On the floor. On the carpet piece on the floor.
Aaaaaaaaarggggg. It's 95 degrees.
The latches I bought yesterday were too short.
Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggg!
Another freaking first world problem.
Oh, well, the floor is cleaner than ever, now. And shiny.

  • Mine was Soy Sauce and rice that jumped ship in Alaska. My 5er smelled like a Chinese Restaurant for a week. Man what a mess. **** permafrost heaves. Your post brought back fond memories.
  • BTW, we will not put glass containers in the cupboards - just because of that example.
  • Sounds like when Lucy made the salad while traveling in the trailer!

    Fun times. And memorable.
  • That was a very funny post! :B

I once used that 'jumped off and committed suicide' humor in a written report describing an incident of product loss at work. A cart hit a pothole, bouncing up and dumping it's expensive contents on the floor, breaking everything. Management didn't see the humor in the situation, unfortunately. :(

Sounds like you need better cabinet safety latches!
  • I made a short stop just recently 8 miles from the park. Smooth road in, no sudden stops. Went inside fiver when I reached destination, found refrigerator door open (nothing fell out), cabinet door broken off, kitchen faucet handle to cold water gone, one tie down for television broken and one other thing messed up.
Think a gremlin must have entered in 8 miles. None of this has happened to me before in 24 years of rving.

Fortunately, unlike you, I had no mess to clean up. Just some repair work which I did myself in the next few days. Ready to roll again.
  • All I can say is GREAT POST.
That mixture that "committed suicide" almost sounds like something on the menu of an expensive and pretentious restaurant.
    Thanks...
  • Yup, you've got to get everything "Sea-worthy" inside the trailer. Even then, stuff happens.

Like was said, the floor is now clean. Maybe the cabinets got an oil conditioning too..
  • When something catastrophic happens like that, the first order of business is to grab the camera...
