Thank you all. She actually went and looked at a Casita today. She lives in Houston if anyone knows of any deals there.
I pass by the casita factory every time I head north, as I live in Houston. Didn't realize there was a waiting list for them though.
The nitro is longer, wider and lower than the liberty, with the same drivetrain I'd think the nitro would be the better tow vehicle. - colliehaulerExplorer III

The good/bad thing is Casita holds their value extremely well so doubt you will find one for a cheap price. If you order new there is a waiting list.

If she decides the TT is not for her the resell would be good as well. The 14' box type RV would be a lot less money to get into RV'ing. I have seen new small campers advertised for $7995. Basic with aluminum siding and window type A/C. - JonHightshoeExplorerThank you all. She actually went and looked at a Casita today. She lives in Houston if anyone knows of any deals there.

- Bionic_ManExplorerI don't think that early post regarding a 2000 pound tow rating is correct.
As stated, it was a rebadged Jeep Liberty. The Liberty with a different, less powerful, V6 was rated at 5000 pounds.
I have towed a 3000 pound fishing boat with a Liberty, and it did fine. I would think the 4.0 V6 would be a better engine Than the 3.7 in the Liberty.
Pop up or small Casita type trailer should do just fine. - 6_7_tow_rigExplorerWe have one at work as an unmarked cruiser and it won't get out of its own way. I really wouldn't want to pull anything with it. Really when you load up several people in it it struggles on hills. A very very small pop up at most.
- According to the Dodge towing guide the Nitro's towing capacity is 2000-5000 pounds depending on equipment. Like was said previously it appears the Nitro is about the equivalent to a Jeep Liberty. So, depending on equipment her Nitro may be able to handle a little more than a small popup. I'd suggest doing a search here on Jeep Liberty towing to get more opinions on how these do as tow vehicles.

I would agree a small Casita or Scamp.
Casita.
The trouble with the other small TTs is they catch to much wind. - DuctapeExplorerCasita.
