What does it take to make 20k mile oil?

I'm thinking the engine seized completely, when you say it locked up. Was the oil level checked during the 135K or could it have seized/locked up due to burning/leaking the oil out, till not enough was left and it seized because of lack of oil ? Or I guess the oil could of got pretty gummy, clogged up oilways, etc. during 135K and didn't flow much anymore..leading to catastrophic engine failure.
