Our previous 5er's holding tank (1976) and its design relationship with the toilet and venting, required us to use some strong perfumes. And when we got our new 5er (2004) I continued that odor masking process but realized that from inside our rig I never did smell the chemicals in the tank. Didn't take too long to figure out that if I can't smell the chemicals, I don't have an odor problem.
After checking out my black tank and venting design, I realized that the odors don't want to come up and out the toilet anymore, so no chemicals for us at all.
