What roof rack do i install?

My final decision, Kayak goes on the TV roof, the two bikes on a front receiver hitch. I will see if it’s available for my Jeep, if not, into the trunk they go.

I would think that the leverage from the bikes extending that far back from the trailer, plus the bouncing of the bicycles going down the road would be a disaster.

Can you add a front receiver hitch to your Jeep then carry them with the rack?

Thank you all for your suggestions. It would appear that it’s better to put the kayak on my jeep, not my camper, so I brought back my rack to the store for a refund.

I had a Sport Rack roof rack installed on my Palomino. Water migrated through where a seal wasn't done well. It actually totally ruined the roof. I really don't suggest putting anything on the roof

This is strictly looking at the weight aspect:

My PUP's documentation states that the roof can support 150 pounds while raising and lowering the roof, and can carry 250 pounds while in the closed position. With my AC weighing 90 pounds per that manufacturer, that leaves about 160 pounds of cargo weight to be distributed while towing. Be sure to check with what your PUP manufacturer states.

I would definitely look at moving the weight contact points towards the side edges as the middle of roof and even the front/rear ends are relatively under-supported for this kind of task.

I have zero doubt that you can safely do all of that and install yourself. Do some image searching in Google and follow the image links for more info. PopUpPortal, PUX, and Kayaking sites are gonna be your best bet too.

They permanently attached it to the trailer, but I think it could easily and safely be done without drilling holes into the roof.

On the smaller 2x4 roof supports, you get pieces of self adhesive rubber padding to put between the supports and the roof to keep it from getting marred (Home Depot, Lowes, etc) and the ratchet tie down straps keep it secure during transport.

It extends beyond my side to side roof and can hold the weight of two hundred pounds, more than enough for one kayak and two bikes.

Now my question is where to put it. The roof footprint is seven by fourteen feet. The air conditioner is back left of the roof. I found this photo of my popup. Hope it helps. It’s a Rockwood HW 277.

The homemade rack looks good, but I thought the screwed down parts had to be on the top edge of the roof. That is where the reinforcements are located.

Something like this could be done economically and I think wouldn't put too much stress on the roof provided you used plenty of supports to spread out the weight evenly across the roof.

The only thing I would do differently would be to have the 2x4's extend past the sides of the camper roof so the tie down straps wouldn't be rubbing against the sides of the camper.

I would also add a tie down strap to the front/back of the camper as well to minimize movement.
