I like the cheap tv's with the external brick. My TV was sold as a 120v but it had an external power supply to bring it to 12v into the TV. I then replaced the cable with one from radio shack.
Probably not losing a lot of power using a small inverter but to me it seemed inefficient to go from 12v->120->12v. I dry camp a lot so every little bit helps.
