In reply to Bedlam- 1st the comment about the weight on arm while traveling raises question, I read you dont secure TV when not using or while on road?
Our new TV, an led, weighs third, if not half, of what the LCD weighed. It wouldn't adapt to the old Braund table so switched to an inexpensive articulating arm. The new arm is rated same as old steel pivot table designed for a CRT, (VideoSecu JE-NR70-QR6Na) though I wouldnt hang 44# on it, cheap. Point is though, the arm only should see weight when its extended, in use. Newer TV though larger simply weighs less, still while on road arm doesn't see the weight when bouncing etc?
Ours folds over and weight 'sets' on a 1x4, buckle straps secure it. There isn't any load on the arm while traveling. I would think most arms might tolerate traveling if fixed or like the better ones that lock in position, the weak link in most would mounting to wall or cabinet (or back of plastic tv?). Our current setup not quite a year old.
Pics of TV and travling straps when installing
TV swung over and secured

Finshed install (with shelf for the sat box and surround control box)
Normal travel, tv wrapped with foam sheet for a bit of cushion and dust/moisture control.

One thing I havent seen addressed, though the low power usage and weight is nice on the new tvs the sound is horrible. The replaced Lcd had awesome sound. I listen as much as watch tv. If mounted against wall its fine but floating free on arm sound just non existent? When watching from dinette we pull the bed curtain out a bit behind and it sounds ok. I ended up cutting up and installing a sound bar for watching movies.
