What is it about dirt or grass on a tire that would matter? I can see wanting it up out of standing water, and you don't want the wheel/hub/axle exposed to water or mud. But grass and dirt on the rubber? The only thing I can think of is what someome mentioned about protection from the weedwacker.
My one side is up on wood, while the other is on gravel. Since my side yard is not level, I need to prop up one side about 6" with wood planks, while the other lies on gravel at ground level. Only one side gets exposed to sun, so those tires are covered.
