What type of overloads should I install

If you feel a little spends, airbags and an onboard compressor are really nice, I love mine.

Agesilaus, wrong on that count, as mentioned the axle is the same 10,000# axle as one ton.

I haven't had problems with air bags in the 19 years that I've used them. I can adjust the psi for different roads and loads and they improve the ride a lot. Craig

what maintenance do air bags require? Ive had mine on since 2011 and never had to lube or change their fluid, im really missing what I should be doing other than adjusting the air when I feel I need to.

What size 5er you looking at??
You are going to be over the TV GVWR for sure, 2005 2500 was 9,200#. Your rear axles rating is right about 6,000# to 6,200# you should be able to under that, BUT watch the stock tires 265/70-17E's only have a 3,195# rating each.
Before getting bags or Timbiern's hook up the 5er, see how it sits! We tow an 11,000# 32' 5er with our 2001 2500, with no bags or Timbiern's
The great thing with a 5th wheel is the basement, much of what you needed to pack for each trip in the bed of the TV can go in the 5er's basement and stay there.

Another vote for Timbrens. Maintenance free.

If you like adjustability, go with air bags. You will have to adjust the air every time you hookup or unhook the trailer, and you have to maintain a minimum air pressure at all times or risk damaging the bags. Also need to be aware when jacking or lifting the truck, if you do not install limiting straps or lift from under the axle, the bags could be damaged when the axles droop.
I had air bags on our last truck and enjoyed the adjustability, but on our current vehicle I chose timbrens for less hassle and zero maintenance. The install was easier too.

I have airbags, but next vehicle will have the Timbren SES. Just have to hook and go, no maintenance or airing up, etc.
