It doesn't have to be, a 3/4 T pickup does the job very well. as does a large SUV such as a Chevy Suburban.

We pulled our 26' with a Dodge 2500 single wheel diesel 157,000 + miles with out any mishap. a too small TV will result in the TV staying in a lower gear and really bad gas milage. and early transmission problems. But it makes no sense to tow a 20' ultra light trailer with a 3500 one ton dually either.

Buy the trailer you like, and fit with proper TV.

OP from your other posts you are coming from a nice boat and expecting a baby. If you decide on a TT over a class “C” or “A” you should look at nice TT’s. Check out Northwood Mfg. They make sturdy four season products. There are other manufactures out there but their names escape me at the moment.

Pick your TT and then pick a TV that has a much greater towing capacity. Most folks move up in size down the road.

It can be. The choice of Tow Vehicles (TV) is really defendant on the length, weight, and layout of the travel trailer (TT).

It also depends on how and where you will be using the TT. Are you wanting to camp in state and federal parks, travel the country, or just park at a seasonal lot someplace? Additionally how many people will be traveling and what are thet ages and weight.

4WD is not required 99% of the tine, but there are times when you will need it (maybe) and unfortunately when you need it is not the time to realize you saved the few hindered $ by not getting 4wd.

Suburban 2500, Excursion or any of the 2500 series gas motor trucks will get you down the road in PA pulling a 25-26 foot trailer just fine. Cab configuration is based on your needs. Kids, dogs etc will dictate what cab is best for you. 4X4 or 4X2? It just does not matter unless you plan to go off pavement. Then it might mattet somewhat.
Like others have mentioned, pick the exact trailer first, then match a truck to the trailers GVWR. Upsize the truck some if your thoughts point toward a larger trailer in the foreseeable future.
