As an aside, I tried the 'Tempest' website and the other one and got everything but a truck camper.
Seriously? What did you search for?
Yakaz search "truck camper" - hedgehopperExplorerWe found our rig on craigslist. It was a truck and camper in Idaho. We live in Denver CO.
After putting a deposit on the rig, we bought one-way airline tickets. The seller had agreed to refund our deposit if we didn't like the deal. But we bought the rig and drove it home. We've been pleased with our purchase. - Blanco1Explorer

Again, issue is, with an old / used camper, you still have the water intrusion / rot issue if it wasn't properly maintained. Lots of stories on many different sites (including this one) about rebuilding a camper. Not something I'd want to do.
Nor do I!
Or I'd be asking about that vs replacing the whole rig. - Grit_dogNavigator

In general focus on the PNW and mountain west states. That's where the vast majority of TCs are and also the right side of the country for you.
Personally I'd go private party. Can't trust a dealer anymore than Joe blow so why pay the premium. It's buyer beware anyway.
Craigslist seattle alone probably has 100+ TCs any given day. And if you know or can find a rvnet buddy to check it out first when you find the "one". That's a bonus.
But as much as it rains out there might that not be the best place?
I would imagine more chances of wood rot?
I would imagine the south west might be better?
But yes some states have higher popularity with truck campers than others...
Southern Ca. is not big with them.
Buyer beware everywhere. Dry rot, wet rot, faded fiberglass, crunchy stickers and vents/accessories. Depends how old and how it was stored.
I wouldn't want one that sat in the rain for ___years or in the blazing sun. Each causes it's own problems. These types of RVs are pretty disposable if treated like they're weather proof and not well maintained. - Blanco1Explorer

Check out Toms Camperland in AZ , 3 locations . Lots of TC`s , like 50-60 , I saw a used Host Yukon side entry on the site , lots of Lances .
In my opinion you should go to a RV show or a place with a lot of campers and see what will suit your needs , 1 slide ,2 ,layout ...
Take your wife and dog , you may fall in love with a camper more after actually being in it
Thanks!
I'll call them right now!
Wow!!
They awesome selection on their website. - Blanco1Explorer

I bought my 2008 Lance 805 3 states away from me last February using Search Tempest. I was specifically looking for that model so it took a while.
Once I finally decide what model I want I will shop for a year or more if need be?
Its not like I don't have a TC now, just looking for an up-grade.
So I'm in no hurry I will wait for just the right deal. - sharkmanExplorerFacebook, that's where we found our lance 815.
