When I was a kid, my parents parked their camper (about 5 years) at a campground and left it all summer, except when they went on road trips. Sometimes the road trips were 3 weeks long as we traveled all over the country, but never stayed anywhere more than a few days. Always on the go.
Since I've been camping as an adult, the longest we've stayed was about 2 weeks. Like the OP, I have a job and that limits the amount of time during any one stretch.
In the last several years, if we have a week, we spend 3 nights at one location and 4 nights at another location. We really like going to different places, and after a few days at one spot, we've seen all we're interested in and ready to move on. It's much simpler with no kids, and much easier to break camp and set up camp at the next location without the headache... "I'm hungry!" "I've got to use the bathroom!" "I forgot my toy, I wanna go home!" "My sister hit me!"... etc, etc, etc. Much easier not having to wrangle kids and move location now. No cranky kids, so moving is nice!
