To me, ANY tire with a 75 or less profile tread to sidewall height is a low profile tire. You can get 50 and 55 series tires that are upwards of 35-38' with 22 and 24" rims on semi's. Those are still low profile tires due to the 50-55% of the tread width in sidewall height!
There are positives to an equal height lower profile vs higher profile tire. ie say a 265-75-16 vs a 265-70-17 tire. Both the same overall diam, same revs per mile etc.....
At the end of the day, it in reality is up to you as to which will serve you better.
