If you are not towing the next 1000 miles...I wouldn't change it! If you do alot of towing the OLM will tell you it's time. If you plan on switching to full synthetic I would do it now and then when you get back. I run full synthetic Amsoil in everything and changed mine at 2500 miles. I cut the filter open and it was full of metal filings...but thats good! It was doing it's job. I then changed it again at 5000 and now am on 5000 mile intervals. For the most part, 90% of running time is towing and the other 10% is idling...trying to warm up this cold long winter in the north!
