Let's face it.....the back in the days philosophy permeates this board. Unneeded frequent oil changes, the new DEF Systems are bad (they have been around in Europe for years) half tons can just tow pop-ups, Carlisle tires twenty years ago were junk-that makes the new and improved ones junk too, You need LT tires on a half-ton pickup to tow properly,Maxxis Tires are the greatest gift to the travel trailer towing community... etc.,etc.
Bravo, sir.
This is probably the best post I have read on these boards.
Back in the days....
- Condensation in an intercooler was solved by drilling a 1/32" dia hole and manages with a pipe cleaner ever so often
- Buddies knew and understood regularly have your vehicle serviced
- No idiot lights, as they knew what a real gauge indicates
- Knew HOW2 check their own oil level
- and a big ETC
If you wish to look at foreign countries, then note that in Europe they
actually know the difference between "P" class and "LT" class...plus
they also know that LEO's can boot their rig if the components do NOT
match the spec for said vehicle
OR that today's Engine Oil Change computer is just another idiot
light kind of thing that is dumbed down for the majority of today's
folks. Dad is one of them. His Caddy says the engine oil just fine
and dandy....so he never checked like he did with the Buick before
the Caddy...well those all aluminum V8 rockets of an engine are noted
for leaking coolant and engine oil (both ways). When I checked the
dip stick was covered with the 'old and back then' term 'Milk Shake'
Absolutism continues to pervade...
