Aboriginal " Bush Mechanics" - steve-n-vickiExplorerI bet it rode like a log wagon
- burningmanExplorer IISo that's what those timber-ens some of you shove into your springs are.
- theoldwizard1Explorer IIWatch the move "The World's Fastest Indian". In the middle a large tree branch was used to replace a blown tire on a trailer !
- NRALIFRExplorerWhat kind of chickens do you make wire from?
:):) - rightlaneonlyExplorerMany years ago while driving a cab over tank truck the adjusting bolt broke letting the air compressor fall away and the drive belt no longer making contact with the pulleys. No air no brakes:E. I'm about 50 miles from the yard and no help (long before cell phones) I found a sturdy stick (branch) stuck it under the compressor, wired it to the frame, lowered the cab on the stick, got just the right amount of tension (had to be a perfect diameter stick) on the stick. Got air up and drove it home.Any stick in a storm right? Right;)
- TrackrigExplorer IIAges ago I noticed a neighbor hauling home large loads of cinder blocks for the foundation of the garage he was building. He had an old State DOT surplus 1/2 ton truck. With the back end full of cinder blocks, it was riding nice and level.
Me being me, I had to wonder over and check things out. What he was doing before loading the blocks was putting three pieces of 2X6 between the top of the axle and the frame. Worked like a champ.
Bill - LwiddisExplorer IIChicken wire is expensive.
- gboppExplorerEven if it doesn't last long, the replacement parts are cheap.
The fines, not so cheap.
