when you say truckers stop, if your referring to a weigh station, you will get very accurate weights, at least as accurate as a CAT scale.
In oregon, the state leaves all weigh station scales open and on 24/7. So as long as they are "closed", I just pull and and weigh as needed. front axle, rear axle, trailer axles. for accurate measurements I repeat with WD hitch un hooked, and to get tongue weight I just put the tongue on the scale and use the jack to lift it off the truck ball. gives me tongue weight as well.
I just pay attention and if I see a trucker pull in to check weights, I pull forward and let them go through. - PoohperExplorerWe don't have very much where I live except we do have Trucker stops with scales not far away that I can probably get a close estimate of the weight from. - KD4UPLExplorerYou were told wrong. CAT scales at truck stops work just fine for RVs. Or, you can often go to: landfills, feed mills, quarries, and scrap yards. I've had places like that let me use their scale for free several times.
- donn0128Explorer IIDo you have a DOT scales close by you? Here on OreGun DOT leaves the scales on even when the office is closed.
