We live and drive in a very hilly area.
Our pickup has the 6.0L gas, 6 speed auto trans and 4.10 diffs. carrying an 855S
Would do the same if I was replacing it.
The difference between the 3.73 and 4.10 is only 10% so if the 3.73 is running at 2200 rpms, the 4.10 will be turning just over 2400.
I find driving more relaxed if the engine isn't shifting frequently.
Fuel mileage difference? Don't know since I've never had a heavy duty pickup with anything other than a 4.10, but I don't think the difference is significant. But if an engine downshifts more frequently with a 3.73 diff., I can't imagine fuel mileage improving.
IMHO, of course. ;)
