How much ferrous metal is in the stainless steel disk? Most stainless steel would not serve as a base for a magnet.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Take Joe's advice and use proper screws then sealant. Not a good idea to try to glue something to the rubber roof membrane which can be subjected to wind loading.
