Yes! You have leaf springs in the rear of your ‘05.
In 2014 Ram started using a terribly-designed coil spring rear suspension on the 2500.
The springs are placed too far inboard, toward the center of the truck. They can handle a load, but not a tall top heavy one like a camper.
It’s not just a little sway, it’s bad enough my buddy’s truck is entirely undrivable at over about 40-45, if that.
Also beware the 3500 with the factory air suspension. It too has the air springs mounted way too far inboard. I don’t know how the engineers at Chrysler failed physics so poorly.
But then, I could bore you with a long list of other incredibly stupid things they’ve done.
If it weren’t for the Cummins engine they’d have long been out of the truck business.
A new Ram 3500 with the standard leaf spring rear end works great. Really great.
Make sure that’s what you buy if you get a new Ram.
