- jefe_4x4ExplorerNo problemo. Go, and have a great time. It would be good to go in caravan. There is comfort in numbers. For us hard-siders, height was the only defining issue in 2009: we had 4" of clearance under this overhang. Length was not a problem unless you have a leaf springs on front truck which will require a lot of double pumping on sharp turns. Luckily, the left side of what's left of my roof rack was long ago dragged to the ground by some passing tree branch.

The WRT is a must-do for hard core TC-er's.
In talking to Mello Mike, in part, this was my reply to him which might be important to you if you are thinking about doing the WRT:
"It is hard to predict the weather on the WRT. It all depends on how much precip the winter produced as to the level of runoff in the Green and Colo rivers. This stopped our (Alex and me) trip in Sept. 2009 and we had to turn around and go back over the whole trail. I've done the whole thing in a hot, dry June of 1970. The trick is to get in between the snow and mud of winter and the runoff and heat of spring and summer. With El Nino this year, who knows?
If I had to choose, I would go with the snow and mud and the latest date in March. You can survive a little mud, it's sand based, but not river water that's 6-8 feet deep moving 10 mph over the road.

I've got a F250 Crewcab shortbed with an Outfitter Apex 8. Total length is right about 22 feet. Anyone here had any experience out on White Rim with a truck this long?
Thanks!
You'll have very little trouble traversing the WRT with your rig. There are several trip reports on the WRT posted in this forum including mine own. You'll need to make reservations for the campsites along the trail, all campsites are dry camping with vaulted toilets and no fires allowed.
One must keep an eye on the weather, for the WRT on the Green River side can flood over and that means driving out the same way you came in. For day use the permit is free and can be picked up at Canyonlands Island in the Sky visitor center.
Here's a video and a few photos from our pass adventure on the WRT

I'll happy to answer any question you have about the WRT, just PM me. - Nemo667ExplorerWe camped the White Rim Trail back in 2008 with friends who also have Outfitters and we didn't have any problems. I second checking in with the park service which you will need to do to get a camping permit anyway.
Good luck and have fun :B - 2lazy4UExplorerYou generally won't have too much trouble, but the few times you do, you might regret it. There are places where you're crossing shelf rock and such and length will possible scrape and/or create problems. I would call the Park Service and talk to a White Rim ranger. They're the experts. I've done it 2x, but not recently.
