Buy at three model years and pay cash. Then keep it. 15+ years is possible. Just takes a plan. Which is budgeting for repairs. And understanding expenses in terms of cents-per-mile.
If one is still stuck at monthly payment note and weekly fuel outlay, something is fundamentally wrong.
Arguments about options are beside the point. Spec the truck to the way it will be used. That's where the money is at that level. Spec is a fail when the emphasis is on 5k miles out of 20k travelled annually.

Start with a clean sheet, not unexamined assumptions. Include the RV (where cost is nights aboard into years of ownership).
When vehicle disposability ranks low, new approaches appear. 25+ years for the TT and 15+ for the TV is a starting point.
