I had the money to choose either performance or frills but not both. I have been happy with my performance optioned Tradesman and XL trimmed trucks. I sold my Ford XL for the same price as an XLT, so the interior was not that utilitarian that it took discount.
I do feel that the frills will eventually break and will be too difficult or expensive to fix. If I kept vehicles only as long as their warranties, I probably would not even mention this.
My choices are not for everyone. I know this because I end up ordering what I want and find few on the lot configured the way I like. I'm buying the truck for me and really don't care about the next buyer as long as I enjoy it.
