Part of that thinking is the reason so many teachers are leaving
my area, SF Bayarea....
Three of my volleyball team members were leaving because of their
low salary in reference to the cost of living. Moved to Central Cal
Buddies brother is a 3rd grade teacher and had to move away too
Two of them are dual language and one tri-lingual, which is highly
sought after...but the citizens will NOT allow them any higher salaries...
Am working on housing (I reference it bedrooms) for the service
sector in my volunteering. Too many do NOT think of service sector
as police, fire, teachers, etc...
Many here who have that kind of valuation of thought are the first
ones to complain about the poor schooling...even private in my area
and can NOT make the connection to level of pay in reference to the
local area cost of living
Congrat's on your family members who teach and still afford that
area's cost of living...but that is NOT a one size fits all for most
of the country...

You actually weren't stuck teaching in the state with the lowest teacher pay. I have several teachers in my extended family and none of them seem to have a problem buying new vehicles and paying their mortgages. Perhaps the reason for your financial situation resides in your mirror, not in chosen profession.coolbreeze01 wrote:
Bike shop owner is really proud of his new 1500 Ram for under $20K. Dealer said an old man ordered it, but bought an in stock truck before it came in.
Regular cab, short bed, 2wd, hand crank windows.......;)
Huh? They still offer hand crank windows??? I thought those went extinct along with the dinosaurs... :D
As a schoolteacher in the state with the lowest teacher pay in the nation, I can't afford to buy a new truck. Even with the mortgage paid off! My congratulations to those of you who found higher paying careers and can afford the high-dollar trucks!
