I agree.
Smaller vehicles are getting better. If someone told me...say 20 years ago... that by 2013 we would have half ton trucks, with small turbo diesels (Dodge 1500) and 8 speeds forward, I would have trouble believing that. But it has happened.
Or the Ford F 150...ostensibly the light truck in the F series line. Now you can get a turbo gas V6...6 speeds forward and if I recall correctly...this thing is rated to tow over 10,000 lbs...with relative ease.
Light trucks have improved significantly.
....and...I understand that GM and Ford are working on transmissions that will be used for both company vehicles. The tranny for the FWD models will have 9 speeds...the RWD vehicles....will have 10 speeds.
Unbelievable that they will have this many gears....and even more unbelievable that Ford and GM...have actually co developed these future transmission's.
I don't know about a 1/4 ton towing a 36 foot trailer.
But yes....who knows what vehicles are in store for the future.
