No, not at all. Most Australians would be well aware of the general type of vehicle, not so much models. We had some South Africans who who had a much better knowledge than North Americans. I had a couple from Utah say after looking at Italian vehicles "do you drive small vehicles like that?" I explained we had bigger sedans than you find in NA.
In fact....and I'm sure you would agree with me, the great majority of people...no matter where they reside... are just not interested in details of the vehicles they drive.
That is more a North American thing, rather than a European, Australian etc thing.
