I think those that buy a 3/4 or 1 ton for the sake of having one are numbered. I think those with need will continue to buy. I think large gas motors days are numbered and you will see more and more complex direct injection and turbo charged systems. All of which start getting into the cost of a diesel when it comes time for repair.
A good friend from the 70's drove a Chev 3/4 ton with a 6 cyl. trans on the floor, pull a 35 ft. trailer with cars in it and had a home in Denver and one in Phx. He always made the trip loaded, why can't the rest do it.
