Friction wins tug of wars is true but there is some interesting dynamics going on there. For instance when the pick up starts rolling coal and spinning his tires faster he actually gains considerable traction because the harder the pick up pulls the more traction the Pete will gain ….in a way the pick up is pulling against himself. My guess is that if even 1000 lbs were to be placed in the bed of the pick up and 1000 lbs were placed over the tandems of the Pete, the Pete would drag the pick up all over the place. In the same way if you were to take a hose and wet the pavement I believe the pick up would be the clear winner.

Seems simple enough -- the pickup has more weight on the drive axle than the unloaded semi. The amount you can pull is a function of the weight on the drive axle(s).

To get guys like us to watch it on Youtube. Pretty silly though, stack about 4 or 5 ecology blocks on the back of that tractor and it would outpull 2 of those coal-roller pickups easily. Maybe 3, if nothing broke.
