I tow a 5500lb (when camping ready) 23 ft TT with my 2011 F150 FX4 5.0 , 3.73 , tow packaged equipped truck. I've towed Alberta , BC , and Idaho (lots of mountains and winds ! )
The truck performs great. My only issue is payload. With my wife and I in the truck, we are about 200 lbs under GVWR weight when travelling on with typical camping stuff in the truck. So with 4 adults , I'm about 2-300lbs over GVWR. I have done it. The truck still performs fine, but it's working quite hard in the mountains or headwinds.
