I know I sound like a broken record, so please forgive me, but I long for an America that actually made things. Our once "best in the world" manufacturing base has decamped for Asia. The guys who run many of these RV companies source their parts in China, Taiwan and elsewhere. Then they are sort of assembled here in America.
Sooner or later the Asian suppliers are going to develop a market in the US for well built TCs and RVs. They'll find a ready audience.
I chose an Avion TC. It was created in the aftermath of WW2 when all those soldiers were raising families and enjoying the great outdoors in their RVs. America was the workshop of the world with quality products. My Avion TC is built like a B-25, and is still on the road after all these years. My fellow Avion folks are carefully rebuilding their TCs all across the US. And part of the reason is the perceived poor quality of most RVs. I would not lay the blame at the feet of the American working man and working woman. I have nothing but respect for their skills, energy and enterprise.
No, I lay the blame at a broken political and economic system that values only quick returns. Its taken America a long time to get to this point, and it will take a long time to get fixed. But, I'm sure we will do it. There is not an alternative.
In the end, you have to assure the quality of the things you buy. Its a hard lesson, and I sympathize with the OP. But, there is no other way to get first rate products for our hard earned dollars.
