If you look at some of the pictures where quality is suspect, it really doesn't take a trained professional to tell that a low quality wood was used or that staples did not reach their intended target.
The wood in the picture below looks like salvaged re-sawn 2" lumber that is used in shipping crates.
But, like you say, that may be normal for some.
Borrowed picture:
Im so glad you borrowed this picture, lol, You see that broken board? That's not a board, That's like Furring Strips from lowes that you attach to the inside of your form boards so that when the form is removed you have a 1 1/2 in tin ledge for you sheet metal to set on, They are like .75 cents for an 8'' stick and these are what they use for studs in these truck campers. I agree with Reddog that a Fridge and AC unit is High, and that's why in my previous post I said minus appliances, $3000. is probably a little high on the material quote. There is no possible way on earth that stapled pine boards will out last TIG welded aluminum, And its lighter in weight and cheaper, And you could take a pressure washer to the inside of one of the aluminum jobs and not hurt it. I really like the New Campers on here, I love all the Pictures as well. They are great wonderful creations and Im not knocking anybodys TC. They are just too pricey for me and don't last long enough. I noticed a lot of these guys on here have had great luck over the years and showed us pictures of their older campers that have stood the test of time. Im thinking these built this year wont have the same workmanship as their campers had. Just my guess.
