I'm also going to look at EarthCruisers as well. I'm hoping TCs built to be taken off road or on expeditions will be built to much higher standards.
And you will find that a $35,000 - $50,000 TC is cheap compared to one built for off-road use.
EarthCruiser
The EarthCruiser, which sells for more than $200,000, is built on a diesel-powered Mitsubishi Fuso 4x4 truck chassis that can plow through snow, climb over rocks and sweep across deserts. It has a solar panel system that can keep everything running off the grid for 10 days and a water purification system so that you can draw water from a river and safely drink it.
If you don’t need a vehicle geared for international travel like the EarthCruiser, an alternative is the OutBack Explorer, which has many of the same features, including the Mitsubishi Fuso 4x4 chassis with a diesel engine. It is available with a queen bed, a dinette/sleeper and two slideouts for extra room. The retail price is $135,000.
