I think that with all the concern about weight, the manufacturers have been forced into poor material choices. Nothing is solid. As for fit and finish, end seams get done in tape. We all have the right to complain because the cost is high and it isn't like we have a choice as industry standard is pretty much that, standard! Blowing off some steam as the OP did is okay in my book but also realize it isn't much different than complaining about our politicians, it isn't likely to change any time soon.
