25 years ago I bought 28' motorhome, that PO converted to diesel.
120 HP engine was giving it decent speed on flats, (had dual transmissions) but still remember taking Baker, CA grade at 25 mph.
It was that having lockable hand cable for gas pedal, I was almost ready to leave it and go to rear bathroom as single grade took over 1/2 hr to climb
So it wasn't much of the jet, but motorhome was delivering honest 10 mpg, when gas engines of the era had trouble touching 5 in such configuration.
