So it wasn't much of the jet, but motorhome was delivering honest 10 mpg, when gas engines of the era had trouble touching 5 in such configuration.
If a smaller gasoline engine RV like that wasn’t doing better than 5 in stock configuration, something was wrong with it. Certainly doesn’t represent the class of vehicles. Any way ...
I had a gasoline engine 32 ft Class A that struggled to make it up a relatively minor grade 3000 ft pass at much more than 50 and more worrisome constantly hunting for gears. Then, I got the Banks Power Pack installed. It had no issues keeping speed on any passes we traveled after that. I could easily do 65 towing a Jeep with no gear hunting ... kind of like a jet. :) Well, a slower jet.
All kidding aside, the work done by Eric’s RV Performance Center in Sequim on that Ford engine was awesome with much better mpg. Worth considering a gasoline class A with that modification over a diesel.
What really precipitated the change was an $800 estimate to replace the exhaust manifold bolts on the stock engine. It seemed to make sense to add two thousand and wake that RV up!
