Maybe it's like calling the M35 a deuce and a half? Although that was it's off-road capacity, on-road road capacity was twice that. I know my Ram 5500 has 9000 lb payload capacity based on how it is optioned - Do I call it a 4.5 ton or halve the payload and call it a 2 ton truck?
