They are called HD or SD by their manufacturers for marketing, but in reality they are light duty trucks going by the overall truck classification.
Classes 1, 2, and 3 are light duty.
Classes 4, 5, and 6 are medium duty.
Classes 7 and 8 are heavy duty.
Sorry, I meant it tongue-in-cheek. It seems humorous to me when somebody has to step up from a 3500 HD to a medium duty.
