I never owned a Dodge/Ram, nor even wanted one until middle of 2010...Now I have the 2013'....It's a 1 ton Ram 3500 DRW, crew cab, long bed, 4X4 dually with 4:10 gearing...It has a GVWR of 14,000# and a GCWR of 37,500#...so it could still tow a much heavier 5er like the OP want's...Mine has the medium duty Aisin tranny and is a towing machine...The 5er I now own weighs in at 16,200# with a pin weight of a little over 3400# and I'm still under my trucks GVWR...RAWR is 9750#, based on tires, AAM rates it at 11,500# to 11,800# (they can't seem to make up their mind on this one)...All new frame, new front and rear suspension, An EB with 2 different settings and the Laramie Longhorn leather seats are awesome....It tows my 5er through the mountains of WV, TN, NC, SC and VA quite effortlessly and the wife and I are sitting in the lap of luxury while we're towing:)
Not fast out of the gate..but I'm not into jack rabbit starts or racing light to light driving anyway...It builds speed up towing pretty doggone good.....Love the truck, 25, 600 miles on it and it's been a great truck..it's also my daily diver...never had an issue with the mirrors either, work great for me. My 5er is 39' 9" long and hi-profile and I can see everywhere I need to...
I have a lot of room to go heavier with this truck and believe it could still easily tow a much heavier 5er..
