I bought a GMC after trying all of the big 3. The Fords I drove exhibited a lot of surge when the turbo kicked in. The Ram seemed to be quite a bit noiser and wasn't as nicely put together. Seemed like the workmanship was not as as good as GM or Ford. The Allison/diesel combo seemed like a perfect match, and handled downhills with heavy loads better than the other two. Finally, the step height into the GM was lower, making it easier to enter.
Funny, I owned 3 Chevy 3500 DRW/CC/LB/4X4/D/A in LTZ trim and test drove in 2013 before I decided to take delivery of the 13 in my sig....I've even driven a 2014 3500 Dually in LTZ trim and comparing Longhorn leather to GM/Chevy leather, the Longhorn is far nicer and the back seat is still more comfortable in the Ram than in the Chevy...Chevy is quicker off the line and the Duramax/Allison is tried and true....if I left Ram, I'd end up in a Chevy, but think the Ram looks better inside and out..and the Cummins/Aisin match what the D/A can do except for quickness, but I'm not racing anyone....
With TH/EB on agressive....my truck , going down a 6 to 7% grade with foot off throttle will almost literally come to a complete stop on it's own. The Chevy/GM did seem to be a little lower to step up into.
But again, fit and trim, comparing a GM/Chevy in top of the line trim to a Ram Laramie Longhorn or Laramie Limited...the Ram is much better looking and not as "plastic looking", but again, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...It was one other thing that I liked better than Chevy in 2010, 13 and 14'.... Ram is noisier, but no way like it used to be, (one reason I never wanted one)...the EB is AWESOME!!!
Did you take a heavy load down a mountain with all three? As I stated, the EB/T/H feature in my truck literally will bring truck and a trailer almost to a complete stop when I take my foot off the throttle....some pretty steep mountains in WV, TN, NC and VA., even on some of the interstates.
