I bought a GMC after trying all of the big 3. The Fords I drove exhibited a lot of surge when the turbo kicked in. The Ram seemed to be quite a bit noiser and wasn't as nicely put together. Seemed like the workmanship was not as as good as GM or Ford. The Allison/diesel combo seemed like a perfect match, and handled downhills with heavy loads better than the other two. Finally, the step height into the GM was lower, making it easier to enter.
I am curious you say the GM handled downhills with heavy loads better than the other two.
Did all three let you hook up to the same load for your test?
Sorry I left out details, but yes, all pulled about the same loads. Company had a variety of TVs and we used gooseneck trailers to move backhoes and other fairly heavy construction equipment. All the vehicles were about the same age (2006 and newer).
I am sure you are happy with your new truck but how can you decide on a new truck by how trucks up to 8 years old performed?
Never wanted a Ram truck before 2010, (and at that time I purchased the 2010 wasn't sure about my decision to buy one)), but even since 2010 to my 13', so many changes were made, it's not really the same truck that it was in even 2012, with all the many changes they made in MY13 &14'. TRuck has been re-engineered and has to be years ahead of the 2006's through 2010....
