Best to keep wife happy. There are many people out there that wouldn't want to travel extensively in an RV at all so if as she gets older wants a little more comfort I think that's reasonable.

Many who go with large RV's like class A tow a vehicle behind them so there is also opportunity to explore well off the beaten path.
