No..I work on a Fire Engine that is a diesel our trips are short and frequent. It has caused no major problems because of it. However it doesn't do the engine or drivetrains any benifit either. All engines and drivetrains benifit from fully warmed up operation. If you need a diesel for towing buy it and drive it. If you don't really need a diesel, gas my be a better option for you. I choose gas for my current set up. It works for me. Diesels are more expensive to maintain compared to gas, if you buy a diesel maintain it properly don't skimp.
